that's a great article. thanks for the heads up. oh, and i love that they put hitler and reagan in the same sentence.

no, not at all...they didn't set out to portray concervativism using only negative psychological elements...

well, they did say how some liberal traits are liabilities, and conservative traits could be tied to honor and loyalty...so while i think "not judgemental" is inaccurate, they at least tried to look at other points of view.

it's interesting that some of the "traits" they mentioned could be called objective traits, but there tends to be a negative connotation to them. "threat management" sounds objectively reasonable, but it has a connotation of conniving or bullying.

what i'm getting at is that it's easy to point out critics of conservatism as using "only negative psychological elements" because we've attached a stigma to being conservative. it's hard not to sound overly harsh when you're trying to be objective in your criticism.

A UC-Berkeley study on conservative politics is about as unbiased as a Fox News special on liberal politics. Assuming this paper is as described in the press release, it has no place in scientific literature. Or even in psycological literature, for that matter.
