has anybody heard of "solar twin"? it's a cross between jungle and ambient, and it's pretty fucking good. i've been listening to them a lot in my car.

saturday was pretty eventful. evie got a new bed, which is nice, and she slept in it saturday night and napped there too. i also had a reception in sarasota for rowan. it was pretty much a community-building event where they updated the alumni on how the new construction is coming along and what new programs are in place. it's pretty cool....they're going to have a "tech center" that's about 5 acres where they're going to have local corporations come in and partner with the school to develop technology and incubate business. rowan's engineering department is even going after some patents, and i think that's pretty snazzy.

that's it, really. farscape's over, dune is here and gone, don't have time for reading. blah. i have about 15 books i really wanna read...i'm going to start with either "hour of the octopus" or "the dragon society"..prolly DS, cause i read its predecessor much more recently than the predecessor of HOTO.

word. i'm gonna read dragon society next too...i've read pretty mixed reviews, but i think watt-evans always gets mixed reviews because his stuff is slightly juvenile.

oh man...this is going to be a me and you thread....

juvenile? really? this was a pretty mature and graphic book, if you ask me.

well, i'd say the content was pretty juvenile...even though some of the subject matter could be described as mature and graphic. like...well, a PG-13 movie...take "shanghai knights" for example. graphic violence and mature content (whores, gambling, alchohol), but still a pretty juvenile movie. plus...the level of reader that's required is much lower for a watt-evans book than for, say, a stephenson novel.

i'll agree on the reading level...but i still disagree the content was juvenile. other than graphic sex, what qualifies content as "adult" and not "juvenile"?

i remember a pretty graphic part in the beginning about a man getting toasted by a dragon. not something i'd imagine a juvenile would be used to.

eh, again going to a movie example (which you didn't address), there's a pretty graphic scene in "jurassic park" where t-rex chows down on some guy on a toilet. that's a similar level of content, but that movie was still not rated R.

their cover of "rock the casbah" kicks ass.

it is VERY good. the couple of songs before it on the CD are pretty decent, too, but it gets repetitive...
