dumb fucking laws - don't let the bastards grind you down.
dumb fucking laws
"Glandon was charged with possession of a moonshine still, manufacturing an alcoholic beverage, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for resale, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of an explosive device. "

Okay, so let's look at this.

Possession of a moonshine still, manufacturing and alcoholic beverage.

SFW? Who the fuck cares if the guy is making alcohol? Since when was that illegal? I'm getting a microbrew kit for christmas. I don't understand.
Is it that you're not allowed to make big batches? Can't resell it? Can't make anything harder than beer? I don't get it, I think it's stupid. Does that mean I'm not allowed to grow my own tobacco?

cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for resale

Alrighty...I hate drugs...but I don't care if you use them. Talk about a victimless crime. They say he was gonna resell it...well, that's kinda hard to dispute if you have it all cut up nice and in little baggies (which it was). But so what? His customers wanted to use it, so let 'em, ya know?

unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of an explosive device.

Um.....second amendment? You know, the one that gets trampled on all the time? Damn...I'm going to do a piece on how the constitution is ignored anymore. Especially that Bill of Attainder/No ex post facto law bit....bastard lawmakers.

Current Mood: bitchy bitchy

The balance between personal freedoms and the safety and security of the society as a whole has always been delicate. And sometimes, it's not maintained. That's why Ashcroft's proposed bill bothers me... besides the fact that I do stuff with computers, I've always felt that one of the checks to having "victimless" crimes on the books was the ability to get away with doing something that doesn't hurt anyone. After all, if you're doing drugs/making hooch/possessing a firearm within the confines of your own home, you have a VERY good chance of never getting caught, because the law says you have a right to privacy. When you start eroding the provacy laws, this check disappears, and suddenly these "victimless" crimes are much easier to detect and prosecute.

And I'm surprised to hear that you "hate" drugs... not the position I expected from you. (Not that I'm disagreeing, or dissapointed).

Nt that drugs aren't incredibly fun, but they really affect performance.

Sooo...if I didnt' have a job or a family, and I was rich, I'd prolly do a lot of drugs.

So, since I like to be relatively at the top of my game, I kinda hate them.

And I hate addictions...I've been addicted to a few things in my life, drugs not being one of them.. but I've seen a few who are, and usually it's neither pretty nor healthy.
