ok, so, while i was at my favorite cajun restaurant, there was a picture on the wall. it had a date that read (mille neuf cent quatre vingt seize) which is 1996. then i thought about quatre vingt.

it's how the french say "80". but in actuality, it's "four times twenty", but in actuality, they leave out the "times", so they just say "four twenty".

so...the french way to say "80" is to say "four twenty"...."quatre vignt".

i thought some of you might like that.

au lycee, au cours de francais, mon <> (??) etait "quatre vingt-cinq." yup, i was called 85 in high school. no clue.

often i think america's got it backwards, but c'mon, france: four and twenty?

In German (because everyone wants to know about German) 80 is achtzehn ("eight ten") and 24 is "vierundzwanzig" ("four and twenty")
