i just read the gossip on imdb, and one item was on how jake gyllenhaal didn't want to say some lines in that movie he's in this weekend, he didn't have to say them and they rewrote it for him.

it takes me back to a time in elementary school where we were reading the pirates of penzance in music class, and i was doing frederic, and i was supposed to say "i love you" to a classmate. me, being young and picked upon, didn't feel like adding flame to the fire that way, so i said that i didn't want to. the teacher nagged me (and i remember such pressure!), and then said i didn't have to.

and then she stopped what we were doing, and made us all sit quietly with our hands folded on our desks. yes, i'm around 10 years old (which makes this '87-'88), and she punished the entire class because i was embarrassed.

those were the days. what a fucking bitch.

also, what the hell was the name of the music teacher at school 2?

...

Wichita.. the wheatfields of Kansas. That song and... I got the whole world, in my hands. Are the only two songs I remember from my entire elementary school education from the good Miss Lee. Nice lady... She taught us over at school #1.. I have no clue if she skipped schools. :)

I think she must've taught at least shools #1 and #2, since I'm pretty sure we only had music once a week.

"Kasas City K is next to Kansas City Mo"
"Chicago... crossroads of America"
"Tallahasse, Tuskaloosa, San Francisco, Guadalupe..."

I also remember "La Cucaracha", "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", "Pick a Little, Talk a Little", and "I am the very Model of a Modern Major General". Can't say I remember doing entire scenes from any musical, but it was a long time ago.
